TiE workshop: The future of FinTech in Pakistan

TiE Lahore Chapter is a non-profit international organization that aims to nurture entrepreneurship. It has 13,000 members working in its 61 branches over 18 different countries across the world. On Friday (28th October 2016), it held a workshop on Fintech – The Future of FinTech in Pakistan at Royal Palm.

It was aimed to provide a platform for all the personal working in Fintech space. The workshop was dedicated to bring change in the financial sector of Pakistan through new developments in Fintech ecosystem globally and locally.

The innovative half-day program

What are the developing patterns in FinTech industry and the administrative issues?

Professional Economist and Chairman of Board of Investment, Dr. Miftah Ismail commenced the event as the first speaker. Sharing his knowledge, he briefed the audience about the role of government in the Fintech ecosystem. Before coming to Pakistan, Dr. Miftah had been a part of IMF and other leading names in the country including BOI, SNGPL, PIA, Ismail Industries Ltd, Candyland Confectionery and Astro plastics Pvt. Limited.

The event was followed by its second speaker, CEO of Innov8 Limited, Hasnain Sheikh. He is the co-founder of Innov8 Limited that focuses on providing services based on technology and accessing in the e-commerce sector. He started his career in the US with SynygyInc, the worldwide pioneer in management solutions and has been working on technology and consulting for a very long time now.

Entrepreneur, Director Strategy and Planning, Faisal Sherjan played the role of a moderator in the event. He is also the co-founder and mentor of Patari, BookMe, Travly, Auto X, X Gear, Wattie and Cfx Comics. In addition, he has broad experience and awareness in the field of finance.

Hasnain Sheikh as a panel moderator featured startup teams in Fintech vertical. These teams were from KarloCompare.com.pk (Sumair Farooqi and Ali Ladubhai), Oneload (Muhammad YarHiraj), Finja (Qasif Shahid) and Urdubit (Danyal Manzar and Zain Tariq). In the end, the President at TiE Lahore Chapter Mr. Humayun Mazhar shared the future image for the chapter.

The innovative half-day event shared light in the technology and entrepreneurship in the perspective of FinTech.
