Uber has officially launched its UberAUTO service in Pakistan today. Starting from Lahore, it will allow passengers to go for low-priced rides within the city through Rickshaws. To celebrate the launch, UberAUTO is offering free rides in Lahore for a week starting from 17th October (Monday). Subsequently, each Uber rider will get 5 free rides up to Rs. 80/- (per ride). This offer is valid until 23rd October (Sunday).
The cab-hailing service has also made sure that they will recruit Rickshaw drivers after a stern process. The drivers will have to submit valid government issued documents to be considered for the selection. They will be getting their hands on Uber’s technology after their documents are verified.
The service was inaugurated by the Chairman of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), Dr. Umar Saif.
While talking about the service, CEO of Uber Zohair Yousafi stated:
“Passengers who cannot afford an expensive car ride, UberAUTO is the answer for them. Rickshaws are an iconic part of Lahore landscape and so they are excited to unveil another service from platform of Uber”
Prices of UberAUTO in Lahore
1- Base fare – Rs. 45/-
2- Per km charges – Rs .4/- per km
3- Time charges – Re. 1/- per minute
For instance, a trip from Samanabad to Anarkali will cost Rs. 50/- while a ride from Arfa Technology Park to Race Course Park will cost somewhere around Rs. 60/-. Moreover, if the travelling distance is 10 KM then you will be charged only Rs. 40/-.
Users will have 3 options to make the payment i.e. cash, debit or credit card.
Procedure of using UberAUTO
To obtain the service of UberAUTO, a user will be required to download the Uber App from an app store. Thereafter, they can request for a ride from the app.
It works in the same manner as its other service UberGo. Riders can request for a Rickshaw ride by tapping the UberAUTO icon.
