WEF welcomes Pakistani to its new class of Young Global Leaders

Nighat Dad has been welcomed by WEF (World Economic Forum) to its new class of YGL 2018 (Young Global Leaders) which features famous celebrities like Priyanka Chopra among many other from around the world.

This year WEF has selected 100 Young Global Leaders for 2018. These are hundred of the world’s most promising artists, business leaders, public servants, technologists and social entrepreneurs who have joined a community and five-year programme that will challenge them to think beyond their scope of expertise and be more impactful leaders.

Nighat Dad the founder of Digital Rights Foundation. She is lawyer and internet activist, her non-profit is helping Pakistani women fight against online harassment. She is a campaigner for online freedom and contributed to a law against acid attacks. She was named one of Time Magazine’s Next Generation Leaders. In 2017, she was awarded the Atlantic Council Digital Freedom Award and Dutch government’s Human Rights Tulip award.

Young Global Leaders is an independent non-profit organization managed from Geneva, Switzerland, under the supervision of the Swiss government. Launched by World Economic Forum in 2004, the Young Global Leaders are governed by a board of twelve world and industry leaders, ranging from Queen Rania of Jordan to Marissa Mayer of Yahoo! and Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales. YGL has been dubbed as “the most exclusive private social network in the world”

Its a great opportunity for a Pakistani to get representation at this prestigious forum!
