YouTube Is On A Roll As It Revamps Its Logo And Mobile Design App

YouTube has taken a courageous step recently by bringing a major change in its logo ever since it came into existence. Being one of the most popular website for video streaming, the company made minor changes in its icon and logo earlier, but this time it has revealed a new look altogether.

Popular video-sharing website came in the news during May this year for revamping its desktop website by making it neat along with added feature of ‘dark mode’ for night time background. Moreover, the company has also changed its mobile app design by adding additional features to enhance user experience.

In its efforts to stay relevant to its consumers, YouTube has been constantly developing new ideas over the years. It started off with video streaming in a single format and now enables users to stream in HD, SD, 3-D and 360 format videos. The company has spread its wings by coming up with subsidiaries such as YouTube Kids, YouTube Red, and YouTube Gaming.

The logo…then and now!

YouTube did not take a lot of risk so far, as its logo and icon has only seen minor changes since its inception. However, for the first time in 12 years, the ‘Tube’ has finally come out of the box whereas the icon has been changed into a red play button. Looking at the logical explanation of this change, the company clarified on its official blog that the word Tube is predominantly used as a slang for Television, and since YouTube’s services are not in sync with television, it seemed pertinent to change the logo into a play button.

New features

YouTube’s logo isn’t the only highlight in its new changes as the company has also changed its desktop design that follows Material Design, Google’s design as its language.

Looking at its mobile app, the company has shifted the navigation tabs to the bottom making them more efficient. Another significant feature which steals the show so far is the fact that YouTube has realized how important it is for the user to view the video exactly how it has been shot. The new feature will make life easy for all the video makers who don’t have to go through the hassle of changing the format of the video to suit the screen size before uploading it. In simpler words, videos could be viewed vertically, horizontally or in a square screen.

In addition, the users can move forward or backwards by simply swiping it with their hands which gives them the flexibility to move forward in their videos by managing speed at the same time.

Considering its future plans and its strategic moves, it seems that YouTube is trying its best to stay on top of its competition and ensure that its user base of 1.5 billion stays intact and grows with time.
