Zameen.com hacked on the day of their biggest Property Expo

Zameen.com is Pakistan’s leading online real estate website with over 9000 estate agencies on board and over 3.5 million monthly visits. It has reportedly been ‘hacked’ and the management of Zameen.com has confirmed about this heinous act committed by the hackers.

With over 600 employees and having its presence in 30 major regions including their offices in 11 cities, Zameen.com has been given a tremendous setback following this terrible move from the hackers who are reportedly named as ‘Tiger Mate.’

Zameen.com has reportedly lost all private user data stored on its secured servers after the cyber-attack. Their entire database and source code has been shared on the internet using the popular file sharing service, MediaFire, according to a Facebook User Saad Bilal. Leaked data include usernames, md5 encrypted passwords, email addresses, phone numbers and other relevant details.

Surprisingly, this move has come today when Zameen.com’s biggest and best Property Expo was held at Lahore Expo Centre today (and for tomorrow as well). Zameen.com has claimed that they are in constant touch with Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and National Response Center for Cyber Crime (NR3C) regarding the incident and that they are on board too. Moreover, Amazon AWS and Twitter are auditing their logs and are expected to report Zameen.com back very soon. (Amazon AWS is the host while Hacker had announced the defacement on Twitter).

It has also been learnt that Zameen.com did receive various threats prior to this incident but they took them too lightly. The recent incident has put a serious question mark over their security on the whole and it would be important to wait for their official statement about this terrible incident.

This is not the first time a major company in Pakistan had its operations unsettled by cyber attackers. Last year, the formerly state-owned Pakistan Telecommunications Corporation’s website was hacked by a hacker named ‘Sultan.’
