Sindh Police To Use Drones To Locate Robbers in Forests and Remote Areas

Drones are no more used only as killing machines. They are being used for pizza deliveries, farming, surveys and plenty of other constructive purposes. Fortunately, Pakistan has also started seeing the soft side of drones. In a recent development, Sindh Police has announced that it will deploy drones to track down bandits and robbers in Sukkur, the largest city of Sindh province.

Remote areas of Sukkur are teeming with marauders, freebooters and gangsters who enjoy camouflage and cover of thick forests and ponds near the Sindh River.

Talking to the BBC, SSP Sukkur, Tanvir Hussain said that during nighttime raids in far-flung areas of Sukkur, the police face huge troubles due to woodland which is filled with coppice and bushes. When the enemy starts firing, the police goes dumfounded and mostly fails to locate the exact location of the fire. He said that drones will help the police massively in curbing criminals across the area.

Mr. Hussain said that Sukkur Police got no funds from the government for this project. The locals helped police to buy GPS drones, which will help the community and police alike. He thinks that the only vulnerability in drones is that they are not fire proof. Otherwise, the police will have an edge over robbers in the area.

Sukkur police has prepared a special vehicle from where the experts will control and monitor drones.
