The CEO Club Pakistan successfully conducted the 14th CEO Summit Asia 2017, titled “Reshaping The Future: Build Greater Pakistan” in Lahore. Number of outstanding speakers from all across the globe took part in the conference where they shared their experiences, ideas and misgivings about the direction of the country’s economy.

The Founder and the President of CEO Club Pakistan, Ijaz Nasir welcomed the high dignitaries with a pleasant address. The Chairman of Kansai Paint Pvt Ltd, Agha Zafar Abbas followed the address with a keynote speech. It was followed by the CEO of Descon Oxychem Ltd, Aamir Niazi and the Chief Marketing Officer of Hashoo Group, Lashley Anne Pulsipher. In addition, Provincial Financial Minister Dr. Aisha Ghaus was also presented at the conference who spoke about Punjab’s credentials in the last few years. The Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal was called upon the stage to speak about the ‘Myths and Realities’ of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Statement by Ahsan Iqbal
While speaking about brand management in particular, he explained:
“When you buy a medicine from a pharmacy, the cover shows the benefits of the medicine in bold, colorful letters on the packaging and the side effects are shown in an almost unreadable format on the small piece of paper stuck inside the pack. When we do the brand management of the country, we reverse this and paint the negatives in bold colors on the outside hiding the benefits. How would anyone expect to improve the country’s image with this strategy?”

Speaking about the CPEC, Ahsan Iqbal said that it is strictly not against the private sector. He further made sure that the private sector will get plenty of benefits from the million-dollar project. The infrastructure of the CPEC will assist the private sector to share a part in the $1.2 trillion imports of China.

The speech was followed by a panel discussion along with a Q/A session. The members of the panel were:

CEO Club concluded the conference with the launch of the book ‘100 Performing CEOs and Companies of Pakistan 2017’.
