Training For Self-Employment: 33,105 Applications Received at CM Punjab’s e-Rozgar Project

A joint venture of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Youth Affairs, Sports, Archeology, and Tourism (YASAT), project e-Rozgar, which has just met its application deadline on the 5th of this month, has attracted a lot of graduates. The scheme has witnessed a tremendous response as 33,105 young graduates have applied at the project.

Demographic Breakdown of Applications

Data states that the project received application from 16 Ph.D, 1794 MPhil, 15574 Masters, 15,129 graduates and 578 B.Tech (Honors) individuals. The overall applications include 71.9% (23,815) male applicants and 28.1% (9290) female applicants for the training project.

According to the regional data, the project received 4,946 applications from Lahore, 3255 from Faisalabad, 2248 from Multan, 2023 from Rawalpindi, 1430 from Bahawalpur, 1268 from Gujranwala, 1222 from Sargodha and 1026 from Rahim Yar Khan. Individuals from Attock, Jhelum, Jhang, Sahiwal, Sialkot, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh, Mandi Bahauddin and various other regions have also applied for the project.

Main Theme of the Project

E-Rozgar was launched last year as a substitute for Youth Internship Program. Chairman of PITB, Dr. Umar Saif stated that the project aims to train young graduates to earn money. Selected candidates will be provided with 3 months training in the first phase of the project.

The main focus of the program is to overcome unemployment and provide a guideline to young graduates to earn online. It provides a stage to study, learn and practically apply their skills and talent to avail lucrative career opportunities.

The project consists of three main courses; technical, non-technical and creative designing, from which candidates will be allowed to choose. The courses consist of a number of subjects:

Technical Course

The technical course includes:

  • PHP Development
  • JavaScript Development
  • Web Design
  • HTML5 Development
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Non- Technical Course

The non-technical course includes:

  • Content Writing
  • Proposal Writing
  • Digital Marketing
  • Social Media Marketing
  • Internet Research
  • Virtual Assistant
  • Email Marketing
  • Recruitment
  • Data Entry

Creative Designing Course

The creative designing course includes:

  • Graphic Design
  • Logo Design
  • UI / UX Design
  • Books / eBooks

Candidates will be selected on the basis of merit and will be provided with 3 month training for self-employment. Furthermore, candidates will practice at 40 different training centers with high profile trainers. Five centers out of the total are dedicated for female candidates.

In the first phase of the program, 10,000 candidates will be divided into three batches and will be trained accordingly for a year. In addition, candidates will receive their training from training centers set up in eleven universities of Punjab. The training will enable candidates to earn almost Rs40,000 to Rs80,000 monthly at home. As per the available organizational space, training centers for freelancing are also being set up in each region of Punjab.
