What Does Google Pixel 2 Offer Including Three Different Color Options?

In continuation to its previous pixel phones launched last year, Google is setting the stage for bringing its Google Pixel 2 in the market next month. The model will appear in three different colors named Kinda Blue, Just Black and Clearly White. It has been announced that the price points of the new phones will remain the same. Google Pixel 2 having a capacity of 64GB will be priced at $649, the one with 128GB will be priced at $749. However, the above mentioned price points are $200 lower than the prices of Pixel 2 XL.

The two versions of pixel are currently being manufactured by different manufacturers. Last year, pixel phones were manufactured by HTC, this year Google has similar plans for Pixel 2. Pixel 2 XL on the other hand, is given to LG. Therefore, it is difficult to gauge the design differences between the two models.

However, one can easily predict that there will be obvious difference between the screen size of Pixel 2 and Pixel XL. The Google Pixel 2 is anticipated to carry a 6-inch OLED display screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. Therefore, this device will come under the category of a ‘Phablet’.

Conversely, Pixel is expected to host a 4.97-inch display screen along with a 4 GB RAM. According to a recent report, Pixel will function under Android 8.0.1 Oreo system embedded with an ‘Active Edge’ feature. Hence, its working mechanism will be similar to HTC’s U11’s Edge sense. In other words, consumers will be able to open an app by simply pressing the sides of their cellphone.

Some of reports also suggest that Pixel 2 may come with two front-facing speakers. But one cannot rule out that it might push the headphone on the back foot. The users will have to plug in the headphones by using an adapter given in the box. However, it is important to note that this information is entirely based on unofficial reports and has not been confirmed by Google as yet.

Google has to face fierce competition

The smart phone market is currently undergoing massive competition. Although Google has achieved a milestone of selling one million units of the Pixel series, yet it is still feeble as compared to other giants like Samsung. Samsung managed to sell more than five million units of Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus within a span of 26 days.

In addition, Samsung sold 850,000 units of Galaxy Note 8, one week after the availability of the model in the Korean market. Other players like Huawei plan to sell approximately 10 million units of P10 and P10 Plus while LG anticipates to compete aggressively with the Pixel series.

It may be a good strategy if Google decides to revise its price points to the lower side if it plans to compete with other tech giants. This move will enable the company to sell more units of the Pixel series and survive in a fiercely competitive market.
