Augere Pakistan, a Dutch wireless broadband company has confirmed that it is going to invest up to $10 million in Pakistan to deploy corporate LTE in 11 cities. The investment comes in a bid to upgrade existing infrastructure to improve access to high speed internet.

Augere’s first commercial wireless network was launched under the Qubee brand in Pakistan in July 2009. This was closely followed by the Bangladesh network in October 2009. Today Augere operates wireless networks comprising more than 800 radio base stations and serves about 125,000 broadband customers.
Expansion objective
It would “become the first company to deploy Corporate LTE [equivalent to 4G] in 11 cities of Pakistan,” Chief Executive Officer Jamal Nasir Khan said at a press conference on Tuesday. The first phase of investment plan will see the company investing $3 million in upgrading the existing internet infrastructure in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi by the end of 2017.
The company is already providing 4G services in these cities. Jamal added that once the initial phase is successful, Augere will add LTE (long-term evolution) infrastructure in another 11 cities. LTE as of now is only available for mobile phone users.
Chief Executive Officer Jamal Nasir Khan assured:
“Augere will be capable of delivering speeds of up to 100Mbps per customer”
The initial bandwidth and space sharing agreements have been finalized with the telecom operators. Khan avoided shedding light on the exact site-sharing mechanism.

The focus of the expansion is provision of high capacity, low latency, unlimited and uninterrupted service to corporate clients. We have already established ourselves in providing great service to renowned corporate clients and we continue to work on our ambition, Khan concluded.
