Kashf Foundation bags prestigious European Microfinance Award

One of Pakistan’s top and leading microfinance institutions, Kashf Foundation has recently been bestowed the prestigious European Microfinance Award by the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. This is the first time a microfinance institution in Pakistan managed to bag a European award. In the acknowledgement of Kashf Foundation’s sincere efforts and training services to low-cost private schools, they have been recognized with the esteemed award.

Pakistan is a country that suffers from quality education primarily within the public sector. Subsequently, there are plenty of low-cost private schools that have taken this opportunity to bridge the gap between public and quality schools in Pakistan. Kashf Foundation, after extensive and rigorous research came up with an idea to customize an integrated solution which provides access to finance, school development trainings and general educational training for teachers.

At the time of writing this piece, Kashf Foundation has rendered its services to whopping 1,100 schools, trained as many as 4,500 teachers and 1,800 school owners. In addition, they had a positive influence over the lives of massive 570,000 students who are enrolled in low-cost private schools across the country with a product which is arguable unparalleled in the world.

The Founder and Managing Director of Kashf Foundation, Ms Roshaneh Zafar exhibited her pride after receiving the award. She was of the view that the award actually depicts the significance of microfinance in achieving the objective of universal education. While expressing her views, she further stated:

“Every child deserves a good education, and education provision needs to be child-centric. The Kashf program provides a new way to address quality issues of low-cost private schools. Moreover, it can also provide means of getting more out of school children into schools”

In the meanwhile, the award signified the need of having a creative approach and structural influence. Furthermore, it also concedes the innovate use of both financial and non-financial tools to enhance the quality of the social and economic lives of both families and communities.
