Two Chinese Companies Are Keen To Establish Assembly Units In Pakistan

Seeing Pakistan’s emerging markets, two Chinese companies; Sinotruck Limited and Shanghai Sunlong have shown interest in assembling their units in Pakistan.

Recently in a meeting with the Pakistan Association of Auto Parts and Accessories Manufacturers Association (PAAPAM), Mr Wang Haotao told that he would like to use Pakistan’s labor and experts to assemble their company’s units in the country. Wang is currently leading a 10 member Chinese delegation in Pakistan through Sinotruck Limited. Sinotruck is a truck manufacturer whereas Shanghai Sunlong is a bus manufacturing company.

Regarding the assembling of units in Pakistan, Mr. Wang told that the company has already exported 2,400 trucks to Pakistan while the company manufactures 200,000 units per year in China.

Sinotruck officials along with the chairman of PAAPAM Mashood Ali Khan are currently conducting a survey of the Pakistani truck market. Sooner or later, they will also submit a report to their higher authorities.

The chairman asked the Chinese company to consider bringing other auto-part manufacturers to Pakistan in the future. This will enable Pakistan to conduct joint ventures with new manufacturers and sign new contracts every once in a year. Thus, increasing the country’s economy.

Sunlong Buses Pre-Launch

On Friday, it was revealed that there is a possibility for Chinese buses equipped with Euro-II compliant engines to be used for Orange and Green Line routes being constructed in Karachi.  A formal launch of Sunlong buses was held in the city.

According to CEO of My Trading, Nadeem Mirza, who is also a significant party involved in importing Sunlong buses told that this will be the first time buses of this size will come with Euro-II compliant engines in Pakistan.

With buses this efficient, they will prove to be useful for both, inter-city and intra-city routes.

Nadeem Mirza told that his company is already making arrangements with the Sindh government to bring such buses in Pakistan. As a result, the buses can be used for the Orange and Green Line sections of RBTS (Rapid Bus Transit Service) in Karachi.

The import of 32 buses has already been signed. As for the first phase, 100 Sunlong buses will be imported to Pakistan in a period of six months. These buses will run on the inter-city routes in the country.

On the other hand, chairman of Malik Group of Companies told that his company is also making efforts to import modern passenger buses from China after successful negotiations with leasing companies and banks. He said:

“Leasing facility and insurance coverage would be available to prospective public transporters; who would decide to launch a fleet of Sunlong buses on different routes of the province”

After the imports, assembling plants for such buses will also be established near Thatta.

Expenditure

The Sindh government will spend a total amount of Rs2 billion for 80 buses for the Green Line section of the RBTS and 20 more buses for the Orange Line service.
