Check National Tax Number Online: Your Step-by-Step NTN Guide

The year is coming to an end and with all the New Year’s Resolutions jazz, a lot of us are trying to put our affairs in order – especially our financial affairs!

One thing that’s always confused this writer is TAXES – especially how to file them. We’ve all seen enough movies to know that even the smallest negligence in filing your taxes can lead to unwanted consequences. Hence, if you’re banging your head against the books trying to figure out what all this NTN business is, fret no more because (even without wearing the Superman cape), PakWired is here to show you the way!

Whether you’re a salaried person or run your own business, you need to know your NTN – National Tax Number. Your NTN enables you to pay your tax according to your income, the amount, and value of property that you possess, and other taxes and fees.

However, a lot of us aren’t even aware of our own NTNs despite paying our due taxes each and every year. Knowing your NTN is also important when you need to file a lot of essential government documents ranging from bank accounts to traveling abroad.

Hence, in order to find your own National Tax Number, all you have to do is visit this website right here: FBR’s Tax Facilitation Portal.

Once you visit this online portal, the rest is a piece of cake. Just grab hold of any of the following pieces of information:

1. Your Computerized National Identity Card Number (CNIC).
2. Your Passport Number.
3. The Registration or Incorporation Number you received when you submitted your request to get a National Taxation Number.

Once you have any one of the aforementioned reference documents at hand, proceed in the following steps:

  • Define your Search Parameter by selecting the item from the drop-down menu. Your search parameter is the reference document – any of the three we’ve just mentioned.
  • Enter the number of your relevant reference document (One of the three we mentioned above) in the box and click on search.
  • Voila!

You now know your NTN number and can check your tax information by simply clicking on NTN/FTN in the drop-down menu and entering your newly retrieved NTN number in the box!
