Audi has been coming up with a couple of launches in the Pakistan market during the past few months. The company has launched a second version of Audi A5 this month after the successful launch of their entry-level cross-over Q2.
Some of critics might have issues with the price tag of A5 which hovers around Rs7.25 million. This model will conveniently be placed between two other versions of A4 and A6 with their price ranging in the bracket of Rs6.15 million and Rs8 million respectively. Therefore, this is a cushion of roughly Rs1 million for customers with different price point preferences.
We can see many similarities between A4 and A5 models as the basics are same. A4 is slightly a conventional version while A5 takes many elements from Cabriolet, Coupé and Sportback versions of the A4 line; thus, becoming a combination of multiple models.

Important specs
Diving into the elements of this new model, A5 has taken its drive-train from A4. It has a 1.4 litre TFSI engine that boasts of a power output of 150 horses.
On paper, the performance of A5 doesn’t seem very impressive as most of the specs match with A4. The company claims A5 to deliver 0-100 km/h in flat 8.5 seconds. Other specs such as top speed and fuel consumption figures are 210km/h and 20km/liter respectively.
Although the claimed numbers do not look very promising, but a 7-speed dual clutch S-Tronic transmission looks like the saving grace.

Sneak peak at the interior and exterior
Compared to A4, one of the most vital differentiating element in design is A5’s roofline. This feature undoubtedly stands out as Audi A5 gives a better upgrade of the glass sunroof from the A4 version along with a panoramic roof. It ends at the rear of the vehicle and touches the electronic hatch. Furthermore, some of the striking features of A5 design include its frame less doors and an increase length which goes well with the lower roof of this model.
The design of the car is created in such a way it gives an image of a bigger car in terms of size when compared with A4. However, looking at the specs, the difference in size is almost negligible.
The controls of Audi A5 are very convenient as the hatchback and roof can be controlled from the interior cabin. The luggage capacity of A5 stays at 480-liters i.e. almost identical to A4.

The above mentioned features give A5 a relatively different place in Audi’s product line and stands out for people who are looking for such features.
Sneaking into the interior of A5, the fixtures, the look and the overall design looks fairly similar to A4. However, A5 has built a very distinguished lighting system which makes the experience more pleasant. In addition, the cabin lighting is connected to vehicle’s MMI providing intuitive control.
Although this model has come up with an upgraded headroom and passenger entry to back seats but it may seem slightly uncomfortable for a tall passenger. A major reason could be slightly lower roofline which may create little less room at the back.

Audi A5: A yes or a No?
Conclusively, the auto market is currently budding with countless models with a large number of customers preferring sedans across different price ranges. Nonetheless, a significant portion of the market is also looking for a diverse range. This change in perspective is encouraging auto manufacturers to experiment with different car models.
Audi A5 has the advantage of having a different sport-back layout which can turn out to be its selling point. However, since we see major similarities between A5 with its earlier twin in terms of features and performance. Therefore, the only factor which can compel the buyer to pay an additional million is its design.
