BEWARE! Hackers Are Active at Facebook Profile Cloning

Today, hacking has become too mainstream in the digital sphere. Facebook is the world’s number 1 social network and the extent of scams emerging at the platform, and hack attempts on user accounts has been increasing gradually since the past years. Besides hacking Facebook accounts and posting weird stuff on your profile, hackers have now developed a scheme through which they are cloning Facebook profiles of different users. Moreover, they are also asking their friends and family to send them some money.

The Cloning Method

This has been a very easy hacking attempt as hackers use the same data of a user and create a new account under the same name. This cloned account contains the same profile picture, cover photo, and other details of the person. Other than that, statuses from the walls of the victims are also copied and posted on the cloned profile in order to make it look more real.

Thereafter, the hackers send friend requests to the friends and relatives of the victim. These requests get accepted mostly because people do not notice that it is a cloned Facebook profile. The scammers can then ask for money or make other demands through your Facebook profile and might also share private information with your friends and relatives.

Protect Your Profile

For every problem, there is a solution. In order to keep yourself secure from such scams and hack attempts, make sure that your Facebook profile is highly protected. In addition, all the information inside your profile should be visible only to your friends and family and not to the general public. If you come across a Facebook profile that you believe is a clone, report that account immediately. Additionally, you should also ask your friends to do so. In this way, the account will get banned after a small investigation by the Facebook Support Team.
