City App Launched In Islamabad

In collaboration with the Ministry of Technology (MoIT), Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the National Information Technology Board (NITB), Islamabad now has a Islamabad City App. The notion behind the launch of this app in the capital city of Pakistan is to empower the people with an app that can help them in exploring the city. Moreover, it was created with a local touch.

How City App is going to benefit the users?

There will be plenty of benefits for the people residing in Islamabad as City App will assist them in securing rapid access to different departments of the government. In addition, the users can utilize the application to attain admittance to law-enforcement agencies, utilities and emergency contact numbers. All these information will be provided to the users based on their locations.

One of the official statements read:

“The categories of information in Islamabad City App include Metro Bus Stations, Emergency Numbers, complaint handling, crime reporting, hospitals, pharmacy, restaurants, fuel station information and much more”

While addressing the audience at the launch ceremony, the State Minister for Information Technology Anusha Rehman stated:

“Such initiatives will lay down a foundation and a step towards establishing ‘Smart Cities’ for a digital Pakistan which is in line with MoIT’s vision”

Additionally, she also acknowledged the sincere efforts of MoIT, CDA officials and the technical team of NITB for taking such a great step.

It is pertinent to mention that City App is currently available on Google Play Store. You can download the application by clicking here.

The app description at the Google Play Store explains it a means of:

Empowering citizens through 4G/LTE/3G/Wi-Fi network to explore City Life. City App will facilitate the citizens to explore City Life based on GIS location.
Feel Safe and well-connected, have all the emergency numbers on your fingertips.
– Locate and getting direction to nearby law enforcement agencies and medical services.
– Directions to any or nearby Metro Bus Stations based on GIS location.
– Facilitate citizens of Islamabad to connect to different complaint systems established by the Government like CDA complaint Management System, reporting a Cyber Crime and so on.

While the venue options listed in the app don’t lead to an in-app page, but to Google Maps, the actual benefit of the app is not for city navigation purposes but as an emergency numbers directory.
