After Screen Burn-In, Google Pixel 2 Has Annoying Sound Issues As Well

Google’s best rated smartphones, the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL could have been one of the world’s best smartphones. However, due to early quality control and testing problems, the sales have been quite irregular this year. After several issues regarding the display colors and burn-in problems, the Pixel has now come up with one more issue: the phone is reported to have sound problems. According to Google’s Pixel product forum, more than 100 people have reported issues regarding the Pixel 2 and 2 XL. The phones have been said to be emitting high frequency clicking sounds from the call speaker.

Temporary solution – turn off your NFC

The sound has been described as the ticking sound of the seconds-hand on a clock. However, the sound only comes when the phone is in the middle of a call. A temporary fix for the problem is to turn off NFC but that is in the end, just a temporary fix. Although both the phones have this problem, the Pixel 2 has been more reported.

Pixel users were approached by Google at the forum. Google said:

“If you are experiencing the issue, you should contact [tech] support to discuss RMA options”

However, in one case Google has been kind enough to console the user by sending him a replacement and testing it before-hand to see if the set met quality standards.

All new phones have some minor issues at some point, but to have a number of issues of this magnitude when you’re a leading brand is unusual. Google is falling into the same pit Samsung fell into. However, the company can get out of it by fixing the issue and being honest with their customers. All they have to do is identify the issue and tell users exactly what it is.
