How much time do you spend each morning deciding what to wear? Even if you pick out your clothes the night before and lay them out so you won’t waste time in the morning, you are spending a lot more time deciding what to wear than Mark Zuckerberg does. By wearing the same t-shirt, jeans, and hoodie every day, Zuckerberg is eliminating an unnecessary waste of time so he can focus on things that are more important.

Highly successful people have a lot of common traits, and adhering to a strict schedule is one of those traits. Elon Musk schedules his time in five minute increments so that every minute of his day is accounted for. Benjamin Franklin would schedule 13 week self-improvement plans that he would rotate through four times per year.

Reading is one of the major ways in which highly successful people keep pushing forward. Reading gives you access to the thoughts of other highly intelligent people. Warren Buffett spends 80% of his waking hours reading, while Oprah Winfrey credits her early love of reading with opening up the world to her. Even Bill Gates, who runs the Microsoft empire as well as his philanthropic Gates Foundation, finds the time to read 50 books a year.

Exercise is important to keep your mind sharp, and Richard Branson credits his 5 am workouts with giving him an additional 4 hours of productivity each day. Maintaining a positive outlook on life is also crucial to long term success. Thomas Edison was famous for using failure as a learning opportunity instead of letting it get him bogged down in regret.
