Punjab Land Record Authority To Computerize Property Ownership Deeds

The Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) has decided to update property ownership deeds on an online website. After the creation of the online page, all property and real estate documents will be available on the official website.

In a performance review meeting, Punjab’s Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the online program. Subsequently, patwaris’ involvement in financial matters was also discussed in the meeting and it was decided to diminish their role.

Providing ease through mobile service

Ownership deeds and other revenue-related documents would be provided through a mobile service, according to Punjab Land Record Authority. Chief Minister stated that the agreement with PLRA will be executed at the start of the next month. After the agreement, the ownership deeds would be available at the branches of the Bank of Punjab.

In this regard, various branches will hold counters of Arazi center. Therefore, it is expected that this operation will provide ease for the people to receive their property documents.

He said that digitalizing the revenue record of the rural population is an innovative initiative taken by the Punjab Government. The CM stated that no corrupt officials are to be recruited for this matter.

“Action has been taken against people involved in corruption under a policy of zero tolerance. Strict action has been taken against any officials found guilty”

Benefits of the online system

According to the CM, this new system’s sole purpose is to eliminate corruption and fraud in revenue matters. He advised Punjab Land Record Authority to recruit its best employees on the basis of merit to best utilize the new system. Moreover, he also added that the new online system would eliminate archaic patwari culture.

CM also said the involvement of the patwari mafia, in any case was out of bounds and unacceptable. The patwari involvement in revenue matters will come to an end. In addition, gardawari issues will also be suspended.

To complete the implementation process for PLRA, CM declared the formation of a high level committee. The CM claimed these bodies would help speedily illuminate issues as per the law, as he requested the structure of committees to resolve Arazi related issues.

PLRA DG presented the briefing about the official’s performance. Provincial ministers Rana Sanaullah & Bilal Yasin, chief secretary Jehangir Khanzada, advisor Dr. Umer Saif, PLRA Chairman Rana Babar Hussain, MPAs, P&D chairman and senior member of the Board of Revenue were also present at the meeting.
