Record Tampering In Panama Case: SC Directs FIA To Probe Against SECP Chief

The Panama case has been hit by serious exploitation as perceived by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. According to which the chairman of Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has encountered record tampering of the Sharif family case. Following the allegations, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been given orders to delve further into the investigation.

According to JIT, the investigation of the Panama case is facing hindrance from certain members. The judicial bench with its three members started a lawsuit to address the JIT charges of investigations being obstructed.

What does the three-member bench say about his?

The JIT and the Supreme Court has been repeatedly targeted by accusations of partiality hurled by the government’s representatives. Every now and then, the judicial bodies are being potholed on media. According to Justice Ejaz Afzal, one of the honorable judges of the three-member bench, they would not just sit and watch the situation.

Allegations were faced by Justice Azmat Saeed that the Intelligence Bureau is putting up aggressive pressure against the member s of JIT. In response to these allegations, the FIA was directed to inquire about the situation by the Attorney General.

Justice Ejazul Hasan also strongly reacted to the harassment of the JIT members by the Investigation Bureau. He also added that:

“No politician or the media can regulate the framework of the judiciary”

According to Justice Azmat Saeed:

“Does the IB also collect our data? How come I believe that I am not being monitored?”

Would the FIA probe against the IB? Now the time has come to tell the duties and mandate of IB,” asked the Supreme Court bench.

The Attorney General responded that:

“We have submitted the reply and reports received from departments”

Moreover, Justice Azmat Saeed stated:

“The IB had only rejected the allegations”

The JIT has been ordered by the Supreme Court bench to focus on the assigned directives.
