The Big List of Pakistani Startups

New Pakistani startups are being launched every week in Pakistan, or so it seems. Those interested in the Pakistani startup community will already know that the local incubators and accelerators are doing their part in supporting local entrepreneurs.

We’ve built a list of Pakistani startups that have gone through either an incubator or accelerator program. Some of these names are well known, and have been reviewed here on Pakwired as well, while others are as yet flying under the radar.

To make this list, we collected information on incubators and accelerators in Pakistan, and then visited each programs website to get information on startups that have gone through the program. Current incubatees are not included in the list, however, and will be added once they have graduated. Wherever possible, information was collected from either the incubator, or startup, website.

Undeniably, this list look shorter than I had thought it would. A lot of incubators do not regularly update their websites and/or social media pages, so there is always the possibility we are missing names. Please read the section at the bottom on how to submit missing startups to this list.

          Hi Nida,
          Foundation and Plan9 are both incubators and PlanX in an accelerator. Vivid( the startup company) has been part of both the programmes. In fact they are currently housed at ASTP. http://planx.pitb.gov.pk/startups
          Their name was changed from Appography to Vivid. The list looks great, just wanted you to edit it correctly. Vivid a technologies 2013-Plan9, 2014-PlanX.

            What I meant is that Vivid is two companies. There are two companies with a very similar name – Vivid Tech and Vivid Technologies.

      does a startup need to be graduated from an incubator to be regarded as a startup? there are many out there who are trying to survive on their own, but that does not make them less of a startup.

        I agree. I started my venture in 2014 by the name of Kalam Cultural Arts. It is a startup by all definitions but is not on any lists.

          Nope, you don’t have to go through an incubator program to be considered a startup. However, this list is only for startups who have graduated an accelerator or incubator program.

            Hi Nida, then you should change the title of this list. Its in NO way big list of Pakistani startups. As many people who have commented here, I am also owner of multiple startups and planing to start more starups. But they are not included in this list.
            I would seriously recommend you change the name of the list. Otherwise this list is an insult to all of us who are trying to work our way up by our ownselves , from money from our pockets!

              I think Pakwired plans to put up a complete list of startups, eventually. This list, short as it is, took the better part of 6 hours to finalize and check, and I believe we’ve only covered 10% of startups.

        It’s not on their website (outdated websites are the bane of my existence). Is it part of their current batch? No startups that are currently in an incubation cycle were included (because half of them drop off the face of the world after graduation unfortunately).

      Textualy and Viaduct were not incubated nor accelerated at Arpatech. They were only recently acquired by Arpatech ventures. I’d know, since I founded them both. :)

      Forrun (www.forrun.co) also missed, which was founded again by myself and recently acquired by Arpatech ventures as well.

      All actually founded by Flagship Group (www.Flagship.com.pk)
