Turkey To Establish a 200MW Solar Power Plant In Bahawalpur

To curb the menace of energy crisis for the people in Southern Punjab, a Turkish firm has inked a deal with the Punjab Government to form a 200MW solar power plant. The solar plant will be established at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park, by the end of this year.

The deal has been inked between the Government of Punjab and Turkish Company, Zorlu Enerji Holding (ZEH) in the provincial capital of Punjab, Lahore. An official ceremony took place which was chaired by the Chief Minister of Punjab, Shehbaz Sharif. The ceremony was also attended by the provincial ministers and the representatives of Turkish firm.

While addressing the audience, Shehbaz Sharif stated:

“The recent energy contracts were testimony of the growing economic collaboration between Pakistan and Turkey.This project was the first move towards ending the energy crises, which is the main reason for the tattered economy of Pakistan”

It is pertinent to mention that both these companies also met late in the month of January. Both the parties agreed to establish 100MW solar power plant in Bahawalpur. The project is tipped to be completed by June 2017. However, the cost of the projects has not been disclosed by the provincial authorities.

Energy Crisis in Pakistan

Pakistan has been facing energy crisis for last 2 decades. As a result, it makes life difficult, especially, for the people in rural areas as they fail to even make the ends meet. The emergence of renewable and illustrious technologies and recyclable energy producing and saving schemes can be easily witnessed across the world.

These projects may well turn out to be game-changer for the people residing in South Punjab. Moreover, this partnership between the countries will further strengthen the bond between Turkey and Pakistan. Subsequently, it will open more avenues for Turkey to invest in Pakistan.
